2. Application
This stand-by electrical power supply provides emergency electrical power to the heating system pump and electronic regulation during an electrical power failure so as to prevent overheating of the boiler. It is advantageous particularly in such situations where the connection with the cooling loop cannot be efficiently utilized or where the cooling loop is not installed by the manufacturer (fireplaces, older boiler types). It is unsuitable to install this equipment on a boiler which is supplied by its own water supply (e.g. water well). In such case the cooling loop is insignificant since during an electrical power outage, there will be no water flow.
3. Device description
The power supply works automatically and is able to supply electrical power to the connected pump and electronic regulation for approximately 3 hours during an electrical power outage. The maximal output load is 300 W. (see manufacturers notice)
This device is equipped with protective components against overloading, overheating, short-circuiting, battery discharge and low voltage. Should the voltage fall below 10.7 V, an acoustic signal will sound from the device. Below 10.0 V the device will automatically disconnect and stop supplying the connected equipment. The 3-hour time limit is sufficient to burn out the last of the fuel.
Under no circumstance can this stand-by electrical power supply act as a power source for a continuing heating process with the addition of new fuel to the boiler but can only act as protection against overheating, where there is no cooling loop installed or where one cannot be installed.
The stand-by electrical power supply is equipped with a 230 V power outlet for connection of the boiler; however this outlet is not protected against power outage. The installed 12 V - 18 Ah battery is maintenance free and is automatically charged.
